The Benefits of Buying a House That Needs Work!

May 2, 2023

There’s no doubt about it, buying a home that is “move in ready” is a real convenience. All you need to do move right in, and eventually put your feet up and enjoy. You don’t even need to paint. That’s why moveinready homes tend to attract more buyers – it helps reduce some of the stresses of moving as it’s one less project to worry about.

However, there are so many advantages to buying a property that needs work. And, if you’re currently shopping for a new home, a listing that requires some repairs, upgrades, or renovations might be worth considering.

Properties that need work tend to be priced lower than comparable moveinready listings. Depending on market demand, (which we have a ton of!), the price savings can range from modest (just a few thousand dollars) to substantial. Also, homes that need work tend to attract fewer buyers and offers, so there’s less competition, which is a massive benefit in today’s market.

Another advantage is the opportunity to get into a more desirable area you otherwise might not have been able to afford or struggle against “cash offers”.

If you’re afraid that you won’t have the funds to pay for all the renovations, there are financing programs that will include the cost of the work into your monthly mortgage payment, making the goal of owning your dream house, much more in reach!
